Dubai Traffic Changes 2025: Salik Free Hours & New Parking Fees

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to implement major traffic changes in 2025.

RTA The United Arab Emirates’ transport authority has introduced three policies to provide the best facilities to its citizens. Under these policies, Dubai’s roads, parking systems, and traffic control during major events have been designed to be the best.

According to the RTA, Variable Road Toll Pricing (Salik) aims to reduce vehicle congestion and keep traffic flowing without interruption. Under this policy, all roads will be toll-free from 1 am to 6 am. This is good news for those traveling at night and will reduce vehicle congestion.

If you live in any city in the United Arab Emirates or Dubai, you should be aware of the new policies there, which can improve your travel and parking experience. The Variable Road Toll Pricing (Salik) policy will come into effect by the end of January 2025. These include “Variable Road Toll Pricing” (Salik), “Variable Parking Tariff Policy”, and “Congestion Pricing Policy”.

Salik Free Hours & New Parking Fees

Under this new policy, parking in Dubai will be free during rush hours and at night or on Sundays by the end of March 2025. There have been significant changes to toll charges due to high and low traffic volumes. In February 2025, toll charges will be 6 dirhams during morning rush hours (6 am to 10 am) and evening rush hours (4 pm to 8 pm). During non-rush hours, i.e. 10 am to 4 pm and 8 pm to 1 am, toll charges will be 4 dirhams.

Parking charges have been set at Dh4 for the entire day, except on public holidays, special occasions, major events, and Sundays. While tolls will be free from 1 am to 6 am on these days. Under this policy, rush will be reduced, expenses will be reduced, traffic will flow and there will be no disruption to the flow of traffic.

Under the congestion pricing policy, public parking near event zones will be charged Dh25 per hour during major events. These charges will apply to parking in high-traffic areas, including during major events around the Dubai World Trade Center.
